Extra Slots Augment Mhw Iceborne
Fully upgraded weapons and armors can be augmented to further enhance their power. Augmentations require rare monster materials and Streamstones. Streamstones can be obtained by completing Tempered Investigation.
Augments work in slots now. This means an augment will require a number of slots to be activated. Extra Slots: This augment allows you to increase the number of slots in a weapon. Attack Increase: This requires 3 weapon slots and boosts a weapon’s raw damage. Affinity Increase: This requires 2 weapon slots and raises the chances of inflicting. Monster Hunter World Iceborne Augment System Guide Back in Monster Hunter World, a weapon could be augmented a set amount of times depending on its rarity. Each augment type was weighted the same. In Iceborne, each augment type has a different “weight” or cost assigned to them and each weapon’s socket number is based on rarity.
Tempered Investigation
Rarity 6 weapons will have 3 augmentation slots and will require 1 Warrior's Streamstone for each, along with some other materials. Rarity 7 has 2 slots and requires 2 Warrior's Streamstones per slot. For Monster Hunter: World on the PlayStation 4, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'Extra slot 2 augment (rarity 10 weapon)'. Finally unlocked augmentation (thank you folks for carrying me through AT Zorah). Having the ability to regen health by hitting the monster sounds incredibly tempting, but I wondered if it was worth an augment slot or if other augments are better.
Tempered Investigation quests are randomly awarded when the player gathered tracks from tempered monsters.

Tempered Investigation Reward
Completing tempered investigations reward the player with various streamstones and feystones. Streamstones are used for augmentations, feystones can be appraised and yield decorations.

Streamstone shard, streamstone, and gleaming streamstone are used as:
- Key ingredient for Melding Pot
- Primary ingredient for Armor Augmentation
- Secondary ingredient for Weapon Augmentation
Sullied Streamstone and Shining Streamstone will be appraised and identified as Warrior's streamstone and Hero's streamstone. Warrior's streamstone and Hero's streamstone are the primary ingredient for weapon augmentation.

Weapon Augmentation
Fully upgraded weapons can be augmented to further enhance their capability. The following augmentations can be added to weapons:

Weapon augmentations can be overwrite; however, materials used for previous augmentation will not be returned. Weapons of different rarity requires different materials to add augmentations:

Armor Augmentation
Armor augmentation has one single option: Upgrade Limit Removal. This augmentation increase the maximum upgrade limit for the armor; allowing the armor to increase its defense.
