They’re pretty rare, and some players are unclear on how the system actually works. I t’s time again to dive into an overlooked stat of Monster Hunter World. Today I will be introducing you to all the armor limits in MHW Iceborne. All MHW Iceborne Armor Limits. Armor Defense will be the first value players will notice has taken a large jump when comparing Iceborne armor to base World armor. As players advance the story of. There’s just a ton of armor you can craft and wear in Monster Hunter: World. And there are a few layers of complexity to the stats that each set and each individual piece has.
You’ll gain access to the decorations system after you reach high rank, which is MHW’s version of new game plus. The game will let you know you’ve unlocked it, along with six star quests,alpha and beta armors, and more. When you talk to the smithy afterwards, you’ll get your first jewel.
How to use jewels & gems?
You can insert the gems into gear that has decoration slots. Go to the smithy and use the “set decorations” option. It will give you a list of all the equipment you have that supports jewels, as well as the list of gems you own. Both slots and jewels can have levels – the slot level needs to be the same or higher than the jewel level.
If you want to use a decoration on a weapon, you’ll need to upgrade it enough first. When it comes to armor, though, you’ll need to craft the beta version of the desired piece – alfa versions come with two skills, while beta versions have one skill and one gem slot.
How to get decorations in MHW?
Most of the time, you’ll get decorations from appraisal items, like the Mysterious Feystone. These can be obtained as quest rewards, bought from some merchants, or received from the Tailrider Safari. When you interact with the appraisal item, you’ll open it up and find a jewel or two of varying rarities. Your chances of getting them from quests are best if you do high rank quests (six stars, involving high rank versions of monsters.)

Version 10.11 was released for Monster Hunter World along with several adjustment to the game and 2 bonus add on content: the Guardian Armor Set and Early Weapon Materials Set.
Monster Hunter World Iceborne Guardian Armor Limits
Despite the + marking on the Guardian Armor Set acts similarly to a high rank armor. It completely maxes out at 82 defense and with only 2 x level 1 decoration slots, this set will be limited to what it can provide. Overall, this armor will help those playing through World but will be weaker than most endgame World meta armor.
Using this to start master rank is an option if hunters neglected to create their own sets before jumping into Iceborne. Players shouldn’t stress too much as most endgame armor will be replaced due to its lack of defense for new master rank sets that are tankier at the cost of skills. Below you will find the list of stat limits for this set as well as set skills and bonuses.

- Max: Level 11 with 70 Defense 300 points 39,600
- Augmented: Level 17 with 82 Defense 600 points 58,320

- Divine Blessing Level 3 (Chance to decrease damage taken by 50%)

- Marathon Runner, Level 3 (Slows down stamina depletion for actions which continuously drain stamina like dashing by 50%)
- Recovery Up Level 3 (Increases the amount of healing effects by 30%)
